SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail security system, which is used to confirm if an email message is sent by an authorized server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the counterfeiting of email addresses made with the domain. In simple words: enabling this function for a domain makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send e-mail messages from mailboxes under the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever an e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks if it originates from an accredited server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, however if it doesn't come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address to make it appear as if you are distributing spam messages. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a cloud web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The function is accessible in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to choose one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be approved to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you may also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain only if it has our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the emails for it, not some third-party provider. This solution will provide you with the best standard of protection, but it's not applicable when only your site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are managed elsewhere. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes as standard with all of our semi-dedicated servers, offers you an incredibly user-friendly interface to activate the SPF protection service for every domain name that you host within your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send out messages from your e-mail addresses. In case the email messages are handled on our end and not by some other supplier, you're able to increase the protection level even more and activate an option for your outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. This option will give you better control and it will eliminate any possibility of anyone faking your emails with the intention of spamming or scamming people. It's not applicable in case just your website is hosted on our state-of-the-art cloud hosting platform, while your e-mail addresses are managed by another provider. If you aren't sure what features to select, our tech support staff will assist you 24/7.
